As our LGBTQ community faces renewed attacks—through legislation, school policies, book bans, and threats to trans lives—it’s easy to feel powerless. This Sunday we look at the importance of taking small steps and how they lead to the big and memorable moments in the history of liberation. As we look at the life of a modern prophet Pauli Murray and the story of Moses in the Exodus, we see that liberation is never just the work of one person. History often celebrates the big, defining moments—the landmark victories, the famous names. But behind every act of liberation are countless small steps, taken by people whose courage and faithfulness often go unnoticed.
✨ DIVINE DISCOVERY: PAULI MURRAY ✨
Pauli Murray understood this deeply. As a lawyer, poet, priest, and activist, their work laid the foundation for justice in ways that many never realized. Murray also knew the struggles of living at the intersections of multiple identities. A Black, gender-nonconforming person who wrestled with both their sexuality and gender identity in a world that had no language for their experience, Murray’s very existence was an act of resistance. Though often overlooked, their contributions to civil rights and women’s rights laid the groundwork for future movements. Their life reminds us that no act of faithfulness is too small to matter.
✨ THE WOMEN OF EXODUS ✨
This Sunday, we’ll explore the often overlooked stories of the women of Exodus who saved Moses and made this story of liberation possible — the midwives Shiphrah and  Puah, Moses’ mother Jochebed, Moses' sister Miriam, Pharaoh’s daughter Bithiah, and Moses' wife Zipporah. Each played a role in his survival, protection, and calling. Their small but vital acts of courage—defying an empire, hiding a baby, speaking up, offering protection—changed history. Without them, there is no Moses. Without them, there is no Exodus.

A Rising Energy in Our Queer Community
Something is happening here in Upstate South Carolina. There’s an energy, a momentum, a movement of people committed to building a stronger, more connected LGBTQ+ community. In a time when attacks on our rights and our dignity seem relentless, we are refusing to retreat. Instead, we are organizing, gathering, and creating spaces where we can thrive.
One powerful example of this is the Queer Social Club, a grassroots movement emerging with a bold vision: to build our community, develop leadership skills, and support queer organizations, spaces, and people across the board. It’s more than just a social gathering—it’s a response to the need for deeper connections and intentional action. The Queer Social Club recognizes that for our community to flourish, we must invest in one another—not just in crisis, but in joy, celebration, and empowerment.
Too often, LGBTQ+ spaces are hard to sustain in places like the Upstate. Bars and cafes come and go, organizations struggle with resources, and queer people find themselves searching for where they belong. But rather than lamenting what we lack, the Queer Social Club is building something new—something that isn’t tied to one space or one leader but instead draws on the gifts of the entire community.
This is grassroots organizing at its best. This is what resilience looks like. From social events to leadership development, from mutual aid to advocacy, this movement is about lifting each other up and making sure that no one has to navigate life here alone.
The energy is here. The people are here. The vision is coming to life. And the beautiful thing is, there’s a place for everyone in it.
Whether you’re looking for connection, want to help organize, or simply want to be part of something bigger, this is a moment to lean in. The work of community-building isn’t flashy. It happens in conversations over coffee, in the planning of events, in the quiet acts of support that remind us we are not alone. But those small steps are the foundation for something powerful.

Join Us for One Last Worship Service in Our Church Building in Greer! 🌿✨
This Easter, we will gather one last time in our current space to celebrate resurrection, renewal, and new beginnings. As we honor the journey that has brought us here, we also look ahead to where God is leading us next.
As part of our Easter worship, we will offer baptisms for anyone feeling called to take this step in their faith journey. We will also welcome new members into our community with a new member initiation, celebrating those who are committing to walk this path with us.

UPDATE ON CHURCH BUILDING SALE
Following our congregational meeting on March 2nd where we voted unanimously to list our building for sale, the Board of Elders is excited to announce that we have agreed to an all-cash offer to sell the building as-is. The prospective buyer has a thirty-day period to conduct due diligence on the property. Please pray that this process goes smoothly. We have a tentative closing date of May 11. In order to accomplish this schedule, we will need to organize to clean out our church space during the month of April. Stay tuned for more information. Your assistance will be invaluable as we move forward with this next chapter in our church's history. Â
