Dear Beloved Community,
Letting Go to Move Forward
For the past several years, we have embraced our identity as a church beyond the walls—a community rooted not in a building, but in relationships, service, and radical love. Now, we have an opportunity to fully live into that vision by selling our church property.
This decision is not just practical—it’s faithful. While our building has served us well, the reality is that our income and growth have not been sustainable in this space. The time and resources we spend maintaining a facility could be better invested in the work we are truly called to do: building community, deepening faith, and advocating for justice.
Now is also an ideal time to sell. The real estate market in Greer is thriving, offering us the chance to move forward with financial stability and renewed purpose. By letting go of the weight of property ownership, we gain the flexibility to meet people where they are, rather than expecting them to come to us. This shift allows us to focus more fully on our core ministry activities—nurturing spiritual growth, offering support to the LGBTQ+ community, and creating spaces of belonging and transformation.
That said, this is not a decision that will be made by me or the Board of Elders acting alone. We are a congregational-led church, which means that the voices, opinions, and discernment of our members are critical in this process. Every step forward will be taken together, with transparency and care. This is our church, and the future we build must reflect the collective wisdom and faith of our community.
Letting go is never easy, but this is not the end of our church. It’s a new beginning. We are not defined by walls—we are defined by the love we share, the justice we seek, and the faith we embody. This is our moment to step boldly into the future, trusting that God is leading us forward.
Blessings,
Pastor Brian
